Kouty Lake

This is a fishing programme concentrated on lake fly-fishing or lake spinning. No matter if you are a beginner or an experienced angler, Kouty Lake is the right choice for you. Don't afraid to take your family with, they can have a relax programme or an active programme there. A beautiful surrounding offers a lot of possibilities for tourists and bikers from spring to autumn. The length of the programme is usually 6 nights and 5 days.

The location

In the east of Prague there is a beautiful highland forming Czech-Moravian border. If you follow the highway from Prague to Brno, after 80 km you will find a small town of Ledec nad Sazavou there. Kouty Lake is 8 km from Ledec nad Sazavou. It is only 1-hour drive from Prague.

Kouty Lake

It is a smaller mountain lake with approximately 5 ha with a maximal depth about 3,5 m. The lake itself looks like a hidden diamond in the middle of green woods. A small brook flowing from the mountains supplies it with clear water. A private owner of this lake also takes care of regular stocking. The main fish are rainbow trout. A lot of rainbows are extraordinary big here; about 70 cm. Fish about 45 cm are quite common here. You can also catch some other species: brookies, pikeperch and some brownies. The bottom is mostly covered with sand or clay so that wading is easy. The lake is optimal for teaching. All spinning and fly-fishing techniques can be practised here. Of course, "catch and release" method with barb less hooks will be required.

Recommended accommodation

Hotel Luna in Kouty: an ideal place with a lot of comfort for anglers and their families. Bed and breakfast or half board can be served there. Swimming pool and sauna are also in the hotel.

Programme proposal

1^st Sunday: Arrival in the late afternoon. After check in at the hotel there will be a welcome meeting with general information about fishing regulations, rules and other non-fishing activities. Of course, the first dinner with Czech beer will follow.
2^nd Monday: Fishing lesson with our instructor starts at 9.00. There will be lunch break from 12.00 till 14.00. Then our lesson will continue till 17.00. After 17.00 you can have free fishing without our instructor or you can stop fishing and relax in the hotel.
3^rd Tuesday, 4^th Wednesday, 5^thThursday: If you have order more than 1 day with our instructor, the programme will be nearly the same as on Monday. In the case of very bad weather there will be lessons of fly-tying, specialized in nymphs and of course with telling fly-fishing fairy tales.
6^th Friday: At the end of the week our instructor usually organizes a small fishing contest for you. We call it Kouty Championship. The biggest fish and the highest number of fish will be awarded. In the evening there will be a farewell dinner with awarding winners.
7^th Saturday: Your departure after breakfast.

Tackle to bring

- Spinning rod with length about 210 cm, for weight 10-30 g, line 0,16-0,22 mm.
- Fly-fishing rod AFTM 4-8, length about 9´-270 cm.
- Sinking, intermediate and floating lines can be used.
- Chest-high waders are not necessary.
- Polarized sunglasses, cap and camera
- The landing net. Czech fishing law requires the net when fishing.
- Fishing vests with everything you need
- Anything else you can think of
